Zhenrui Li (Undergraduate, 2021 - 2023).

Sijie Ma (Undergraduate, 2023 -) I am Sijie Ma, a senior student at South China University of Technology. I love Domino’s, McDonald’s, cycling, running, fishing, and origami.

Yuzhi Hu (Undergraduate, 2023 -).

Zechuan Huang (Undergraduate, 2023 -) I am deeply interested in Reinforcement Learning, Evolutionary Algorithms, and Large Language Models (LLMs). My academic and practical experiences have equipped me with robust technical abilities, including proficiency in meta-black-box optimization, evolutionary algorithms, prompt engineering, and supervised fine-tuning for LLM post-training. Beyond my learning at the Metaevolution lab, I completed a valuable internship at Vipshop as an NLP Algorithm Intern, where I focused on the post-training of large language models. I am currently researching the integration of LLMs and evolutionary algorithms. In my free time, I enjoy reading books and comics, and I previously served as the president of the anime club. I also have a passion for video editing, graphic design, and gaming. I am now seeking to apply my diverse skill set to new challenges in the tech industry or in an advanced research environment.

Zhiyang Huang (Undergraduate, 2024 -) Zhiyang Huang is an undergraduate student (B.Eng., 2023–2027) in the school of Computer Science and Engineering, South China University of Technology. His research focuses on meta-black-box optimization, evolutionary computation, and surrogate models. He contributed to the development of MetaBox v2.0 and has published a paper at ACM GECCO.

Hao Guo (Undergraduate, 2025 -) Hao Guo (Bachelor Candidate, 2023–Present) received the National Scholarship (2023–2024) and is currently pursuing the B.Eng. degree in the School of Computer Science and Engineering (Network Engineering major) at South China University of Technology, Guangzhou, China. His research interests include deep reinforcement learning and large-scale black-box optimization. Outside of academics, he enjoys playing football and is a member of the School of Computer Science and Engineering football team.

Hepei Li (Undergraduate, 2025 -) is currently pursuing the B.Eng. degree with the School of Computer Science and Engineering, South China University of Technology, Guangzhou, China. His research interests include deep reinforcement learning and large-scale optimization. Beyond academics, he enjoys long-distance running.

Zixin Wang (Undergraduate, 2025 -) Zixin Wang is an undergraduate (23-27) in the school of Computer Science and Engineering, South China University of Technology, Guangzhou, China, and now is pursuing B.Eng. degree. His research interests include deep reinforcement learning (DRL) and large-scale optimization. Outside of academics, he is humanities-minded, with active interests including additional-language acquisition.

Qianhao Zhu (Undergraduate, 2025 - ) Hello, my name is ZHU QIANHAO. I am an enthusiastic person with a deep passion for table tennis and chess. I play table tennis quite often and have developed good skills over time. It’s a sport that keeps me active and allows me to enjoy moments of competition and fun with friends. Besides, I find chess intriguing for its strategic depth and mental challenge. It teaches me patience, improves my concentration, and offers a great way to relax and engage my mind. These hobbies not only bring me joy but also help me stay balanced and focused in daily life. I believe in staying positive, learning continuously, and embracing challenges both on the table tennis table and the chessboard.

Siqi Zhang (Undergraduate, 2025 - ) I am a undergraduate student majoring in Computer Science at South China University of Technology. I have previously participated in SRP project on meta black-box optimization, and I am currently conducting research on adaptive gradient descent optimizers. I enjoy music and movies, and I love exploring the unknown. I hope to work diligently within the team and grow through the experience.

Wenqi Huang (Undergraduate, 2025 - ) Wenqi Huang is an undergraduate student at the School of Software Engineering, South China University of Technology in Guangzhou, China. He is currently preparing for postgraduate studies with a focused interest in the field of Artificial Intelligence. As a diligent and motivated newcomer, he is actively strengthening his research capabilities and is a valuable emerging talent within his team.

Yuxin Wu (Undergraduate, 2025 - ) Yuxin Wu enrolled in the School of Computer Science and Engineering, South China University of Technology, Guangzhou, China, in 2024, where she is currently pursuing her B.Eng. degree in Network Engineering. With a solid foundation in mathematics and programming, she has developed strong research interests in reinforcement learning and evolutionary algorithms, and is now a member of the MetaEvolution Lab. Beyond academics, she enjoys playing traditional Chinese instruments such as the Guzheng and Hulusi, and finds table tennis to be a relaxing pastime.

Zipei Yu (Undergraduate, 2025 - ) An ordinary university student who enjoys birdwatching, music, painting, and video games.

Master

Jianhao Liu (Master, 2022 - 2025).

Kaixu Chen (Master, 2023 - ) Kaixu Chen, from Shantou, Guangdong, obtained his bachelor’s degree from the School of Mathematics, South China University of Technology. He is currently a master’s student at the School of Computer Science, SCUT. His research focuses on reinforcement learning-assisted multi-objective optimization, and he has contributed to the MetaBox v2 project.

Hongqiao Lian (Master, 2023 - ) I am Hongqiao Lian, from South China University of Technology, currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Computer Science under the supervision of Professor Yue-Jiao Gong. My primary research focuses on optimization algorithms that integrate reinforcement learning, deep learning, and evolutionary computation, particularly for solving multimodal optimization problems. My main achievements include: using reinforcement learning to adaptively select different evolutionary strategies for evolutionary algorithms, thereby enhancing their flexibility; and employing neural networks to approximate the function landscape, obtaining global landscape information to assist the subsequent search of evolutionary strategies.

Jiajun Zhan (Master, 2023 - ) Jiajun Zhan is currently a second-year master’s student at South China University of Technology, Guangzhou, China. His research focuses on reinforcement learning, evolutionary computation and machine learning. He has contributed to the development of MetaBox-V2. In his spare time, he enjoys sports and listening to music.

Guojun Peng (Master, 2023 - ) Undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Technology at the School of Computer Science and Engineering, South China University of Technology. Participated in the development and documentation of MetaBox (v1, v2) as a team member. My hobbies are running and playing basketball.

Chen Wang (Master, 2024 - ) I am Wang Chen, a first-year graduate student in the School of Computer Science and Engineering at South China University of Technology. My research centers on generating diverse benchmark functions and multitask optimization from a MetaBBO perspective. In my spare time, I enjoy working out, hiking and singing.
PhD

Wenjie Qiu (PhD, 2023 - ) Wenjie Qiu, a Ph.D. student (2025 cohort) at the School of Computer Science and Engineering, South China University of Technology. His research focuses on meta black-box optimization. He enjoys traveling and badminton (always up for a friendly match).
